📁 Manage Top Categories
This admin panel page allows site administrators to create, view, edit, and delete top-level product categories. Top-level categories are the main category branches (e.g., Electronics, Clothing, Home & Garden) that organize the entire product catalog and appear in the site's main navigation menu.
🔍 How It Works
- Add New Top Category: Enter a category name in the text field and optionally check "Show on main menu" to display it in site navigation.
- Menu Visibility: Categories can be hidden or shown on the front-end navigation with a single checkbox.
- View All Categories: Displays a table of existing categories with their IDs, names, menu visibility status, and child category counts.
- Edit & Delete: Each category row includes Edit and Delete action buttons for quick management.
- Tab Navigation: Switch between Top Categories, Mid Categories, and End Categories using the tab buttons.
💾 Database Integration
Category data is stored in the Louis eCommerce database and supports hierarchical relationships—top categories can have multiple mid-level categories, which can have end categories. All changes are immediately reflected in the front-end navigation and product filtering system.
📊 Current Data
The page shows 5 existing top categories: Testing, Website, Visitor Trackers, Software, and E-commerce. Each has at least one mid-level category and is set to "Visible" in the main menu.
